The current kit comes with a controller that seems more usable.
You need to have a battery attached to see anything happen on the controller so I grabbed this battery the Outback killed to see if it was good enough; it's good enough.
It will be interesting to see if it can still hold a charge...
The point of this is to see how the array performs under less than ideal conditions, including shadows and other inclusions. So far it's doing fine.
I'm planning to mount these on the upstairs balcony railing, inspired by an article I read about German apartment dwellers deploying solar on their balconies.
